— Terms —

The fine print,
kept short.

Last updated: 5 June 2026

These terms apply when you use mici. By creating an account or installing the app, you agree to them. They're written to be readable; the legalese is kept to what's actually meaningful.

The short version: mici is a food journal — not a doctor, not a dietitian, not a substitute for medical care. Some features need a Pro subscription billed through Google Play. You can cancel any time in your Google Play account; the subscription auto-renews until cancelled.

1. Who you're agreeing with

"mici", "we", and "us" refer to the operator of the mici app and the website at mici.lifestyle, a team based in Australia. "You" means the person installing or using the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use mici (or older where local law sets a higher age — typically 16 in some EU countries). If you're under the age of majority in your country, you confirm a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms on your behalf.

3. Licence to use the app

Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use mici on devices you own or control. The licence is for your individual, non-commercial use only.

The licence ends automatically if you stop using mici, delete your account, or breach these terms in a way we consider serious. No other rights are granted by implication.

4. Your account

5. What mici is — and isn't

mici is a food and lifestyle journal, designed to help you notice your own patterns. It uses AI to surface observations and suggestions about your eating.

Not medical advice. Nothing in mici — including AI-generated commentary, ratings, scores, or recipes — is medical, dietary, or therapeutic advice. We are not a registered health practitioner. Don't make medical decisions based on the app. If you're managing a condition (diabetes, an eating disorder, allergies, anything), consult a qualified professional.

6. Intellectual property

Your content

You own everything you log in mici — your meals, photos, weights, notes, recipes, and any feedback you submit. We don't claim ownership of your content.

By using mici, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, transmit, and display your content only to the extent needed to operate the app on your behalf: running your sync, generating your reports, sending your photos to the AI providers you've used, and showing your data back to you across devices. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account — except where short-term retention is required by law or by the backup window described in our Privacy Policy.

If you submit feedback (via the in-app prompt or by email), you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free licence to use it to improve mici — including running it through AI clustering as described in our Privacy Policy. We won't attribute your feedback publicly without your permission.

Our content

The mici app, the website at mici.lifestyle, our logo, our brand assets, our UI design, and the underlying source code are owned by us (or licensed to us) and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. The licence in section 3 doesn't transfer any ownership in those assets to you.

You're welcome to take screenshots of mici for personal use, social posts, or reviews. Don't redistribute the app itself, fork our design, scrape our marketing site, or use our brand assets in a way that implies an endorsement we haven't given.

Third-party and AI-generated content

Some content shown in mici (recipe suggestions, AI-generated text and images, public nutrition references) is generated by third-party AI providers. We don't claim exclusive ownership of AI outputs and we can't promise you exclusive rights to them — the same prompt could produce similar output for someone else.

Shared partner content

If you link with a partner via Settings → App tab → About → 💑 Partner, any shared meal-plan entries you create or modify together are jointly owned for the lifetime of the link. Either partner can edit, accept, change, or comment on a shared plan; either can disconnect to stop future sharing. Disconnecting does not delete plan rows already created — those auto-delete on the 90-day schedule described in our Privacy Policy. What stays solely yours — weight, photos, AI chat, your own meal log — is described in the Privacy Policy and is never visible to your partner regardless of link state.

7. AI features

Some mici features are powered by third-party AI providers (AWS Bedrock with Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude, Google's Gemini, and OpenAI; the active provider depends on the route and may change over time). Two things to be aware of when you use them:

Don't share PII with AI features. When you tap the Coach, scan a menu, analyse a photo, or use any other AI feature, what you send leaves mici and is processed by a third party. Treat AI inputs like a public sticky note: write about food and how you felt, not about your identity. Don't include full legal names, government IDs, addresses, medical record numbers, payment details, or anyone else's personal information. mici is a journal, not a confidential channel.

For accuracy on what the providers do (and don't do) with the data, see the AI features section of the Privacy Policy. The short version: each provider's commercial-API terms commit to not training their models on your inputs.

What AI replies are. AI-generated commentary in mici (ratings, advice, recipe ideas, coach replies, photo descriptions) is generated automatically and may be wrong, outdated, or biased. Don't rely on it for medical, dietary, financial, or legal decisions. See section 5 above.

What we can show you about past AI calls. mici doesn't keep a transcript of past AI interactions for ordinary user accounts. Once a response is delivered to your app and saved as part of the meal/recipe/etc., we no longer hold the prompt or the reply — only lightweight non-content metadata (model, tokens, timing) for cost accounting. This means we can't email you a copy of "what the coach said three weeks ago", can't audit a specific AI reply for you, and don't include AI conversation history in your data export. If accuracy on a particular reply matters to you, screenshot it at the time. (A small allowlist of mici developer accounts does emit full bodies for 7-day debugging; no real user accounts are on the list — see the Privacy Policy.)

Optional location for the meal planner. The meal planner has an optional "live weather" touch that tailors suggestions to the day. If — and only if — you turn it on, mici reads your device's approximate location once per planning session to fetch local weather from a third-party weather service, and discards it afterwards. We don't store your location, link it to your account, or track you in the background, and we never use precise/GPS location. The feature is off until you enable it, and you can revoke the permission any time in your device settings. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use mici to:

We can suspend or close accounts for serious or repeated breaches; for minor issues, we'll usually reach out first.

9. Subscriptions and billing

Some features are free for everyone (logging meals, weight, water, basic reports). Some are reserved for Pro subscribers (advanced AI features such as photo analysis, the AI coach chat, recipe planner, and menu scanning).

How billing works

Cancelling

Cancel any time in Google Play → Subscriptions → mici. You'll keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period; nothing is removed early.

Refunds

All purchases are handled by Google Play. Refund requests must go through Google Play in line with their refund policy. We can't issue refunds directly because the money never touches our account — Google takes its cut, holds it, and pays out a portion to us.

EU consumer rights

If you live in the EU, EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with statutory withdrawal rights, you have the right to cancel a digital subscription within 14 days of purchase for a full refund — request through Google Play. By starting Pro features before the 14-day period ends, you confirm you waive this right with respect to digital content already supplied.

10. Service availability

We aim to keep mici available 24/7, but we don't guarantee it. The service depends on third-party infrastructure (AWS, Google Play, the AI providers listed in section 7, and our email provider SendGrid). Brief outages, scheduled maintenance, or slowdowns may happen. We'll do our best to keep them rare and short.

11. Changes to the service

We may add, change, or remove features over time — both free and paid. The set of AI providers we use may also change over time as we tune for cost and quality. If a Pro feature you're paying for is removed, we'll either refund the unused portion of your subscription or extend it.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, mici is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

The Australian Consumer Law and similar consumer-protection laws in your country may give you statutory rights and guarantees that can't be excluded. Nothing in these terms tries to override them. Where a guarantee applies and we breach it, our liability is limited to (at our option) re-supplying the service or refunding what you paid.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, mici is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, lost profits, or any harm flowing from your use or inability to use the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

14. Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless mici, its operators, contractors, and partners from any third-party claim, demand, loss, or damage (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:

We'll let you know about any claim we receive that triggers this section, give you the chance to take over the defence at your reasonable cost, and cooperate with you on it. Nothing in this section limits the rights and remedies you have under consumer-protection laws that can't be contracted out of.

15. Termination

You can stop using mici at any time and delete your account from inside the app. We can suspend or terminate your access for breaches of these terms or to protect the service. If we do, we'll let you know unless we're prevented from doing so.

16. Changes to these terms

If we change anything material, we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify active users via the app. Continued use of mici after a notification means you accept the change. If you don't agree, you can cancel any subscription and delete your account.

17. Disputes and governing law

Talk to us first. If something goes wrong, email admin@mici.lifestyle with the details. Most issues resolve faster and better outside court. We'll try to respond within ten business days, and where local law permits, you agree not to start formal legal proceedings until we've had at least 30 days to address the matter informally.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Disputes that can't be resolved informally are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the NSW courts.

Your local rights. If you live in another country, you may have rights under local law that this section can't override — including, in some jurisdictions, the right to bring proceedings in your local courts and the right to mandatory consumer-protection forums. Those rights continue to apply.
